This is an Introduction to the process of Lighting Design. This course presumes no experience although some experience with working as lighting crew or operator would be an asset. The course will explain the role of the lighting designer, the process of creating a lighting design, as well as technical knowledge and skills that will include:

Introduction to the Lighting System Selecting the right Lighting Instrument for the Job Creating a Lighting Plan Creating an Instrument Schedule Creating a Cue Sheet Hang and Focus Programming Cues Cue to Cue, Tech Runs and Dress Rehearsals

The course will be taught by the Ottawa Little Theatre Production Coordinator Graham Price. Graham is the former Theatre Production Programme Leader at the University of Winchester. He is also an award winning Lighting Designer, including a Prix Rideau Award, Capital Critics Award and his Designs were published in the 2005 USITT World Stage Design Catalogue.
